BIO
My childhood resembled first few seasons of LOST: I was trying to “get off the island!” Eventually I succeeded. After making my home in the place far, far away from where I started out, I was able to pursue many interesting things: education, travel, raising a family. My love of running with paintbrushes, glue, and scissors has culminated in my achieving an art degree with an emphasis in Studio Painting. No one was willing to give me “runs well with scissors” degree. Now I reside somewhere between Fargo and The Big Easy, at my “Wit’s End”, and remain constant in my creative pursuits and delusions of grandeur.
STATEMENT
Painting, to me, is a journey. It is a multi-layered experience of trying to reconcile opposing forces of chance and choice. My work is informed by stepping away from the familiar and desiring to find it again, in however unlikely a form or abstraction. Intent is placed on color, movement, and texture. Relationships between drawing and painting are explored in a search for balance between the controlled and the unpredictable. I find inspiration everywhere, but nature has remained a constant cause of awe and delight.
